Pacha Massive is the project of Dominican born multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer Nova. Its beginnings go back to 2005 in the Bronx, which undoubtedly became an enabling environment for the creation of a diverse and heterogeneous musical sound.
In his productions one can find elements of reggae, Cuban son, dub, hip hop, Dominican palo, house, cumbia, and dance, blended with a plethora of other styles, creating a unique fusion and pioneering sound which has made Pacha Massive one of the most emblematic bands in the multicultural movement.
In 2007 Pacha Massive won first place in the Battle of the Bands at the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) and that same year they were signed to Nacional Records, which quickly discovered the enormous potential of the band which describes themselves as “Intergalactic electro clashers made of stardust”.
Throughout their career they’ve played alongside major groups such as Morcheeba, Ozomatli, Cafe Tacuba, Los Amigos Invisibles, Aterciopelados, Taio Cruz, among others, and their music has been featured in movies and TV shows like Entourage, The Heartbreak Kid and La Mujer de mi Hermano.
After six years of meticulous and laborious work they’ve finally unveiled their new album titled Where We Come From, the album is composed of 15 tracks which include collaborations with some of the hottest artists in the Latin alternative scene such as Los Rakas, Elastic Bond and Natalia Clavier.
The album was not only done with great care, but also with a lot of love: “All of you are part of our extended family, and the main reason I make music is because of you, who’ve shown me that music has a life of it’s own and is way more powerful than I could have ever imagined” Nova wrote about the new release.
Where We Come From is now available on iTunes and when you listen, you’ll get a good dose of body shaking music which will equally make you feel like you’re in the Caribbean Islands or a dance floor in Europe.
